GP Registrar Study Day 2004
Royal College of General Practitioners (Scotland)

Title: The Future General Practitioner MRCGP

Date: Friday, 20th February 2003

Venue: Bridge of Allan

The College in Scotland is continually interested in supporting GP Registrars through a number of initiatives. One such event is the popular annual national GP Registrar Study Day which is aimed at encouraging GP Registrars to come and hear about issues that are currently affecting the profession and in turn challenge them to consider how these might impact on each of them as they move towards taking the MRCGP exam.

At this year’s event, we aim to once again cover important issues for GP Registrars and key Scottish speakers have been invited to share their knowledge and expertise. Throughout the day, various short presentations will be offered including:

NEW Top Tips and Hot Topics for the MRCGP exam; Increasing Public Accountability; the new GP Contract and Developing Quality Standards; Ethical Dilemmas; and the Law and General Practice - all of which are valuable topics in preparation for the MRCGP exam.

If you are a GP Trainer, please encourage the GP Registrars in your practice to attend this important event.

If you are a GP Registrar - book now to secure your place and we look forward to meeting you on the day!

    SYMPOSIUM - CHANGING PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

    30 January 2004

Why Change professional practice? Persuasive reasons can be found in the values of NHS Quality Improvement Scotland:

  • Promoting a patient-focused NHS that is responsive to the views of the public
  • Working with and supporting NHS staff in improving quality
  • Basing conclusions and recommendations on the best evidence available
  • Aiming to focus on areas where significant improvements can be made
  • Promoting excellence individually and as teams and ensuring value for money in the use of public resources (human and financial)
  • Recognising the needs, opinions and beliefs of individuals and organisations and respecting and encouraging diversity

All of these values imply willingness to change and encourage innovation. The topics for this meeting have been chosen because we think that they are important to the public and address three of their key concerns; patient safety, quality of services and communication across the interface between primary and secondary care.

The issues affect all people responsible for Clinical effectiveness and Quality Improvements in primary and secondary care.
