Obesity Monitoring Contract Performance Indicators FAT 1 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 FAT 2 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who have a record of their weight in the last 12 months FAT 3 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who have a history of weight loss advice in the last 12 months FAT 4 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who have a record of eating >5 pieces of fruit a day FAT 5 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who can identify more than 5 types of fruit from approved flash cards FAT 6 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who have a history of wearing clothing with an elasticated ‘comfort’ waist ordered from the Sunday Post FAT 7 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who have been referred for electric shock aversion therapy FAT 8 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who have a record of 30 minutes aerobic exercise supervised by a member of the practice team FAT 9 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who have a record of not owning a deep fat fryer. Inspection of domestic premises to be carried out on an annual basis by a trained member of the practice team FAT 10 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who have been advised that their obesity is not secondary to heavy bones or theor glands, but because they eat too much FAT 11 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who have a record of being named and shamed in the practice newsletter FAT 12 - The percentage of patients on a list with BMI > 25 who have had a flu vaccination We have also been shown some of the other topics and targets to which GPs will be paid to implement on behalf of our elected members. Apparently many practices will achieve over 1000 points in the new contract this year. Ministers have realised that if you want something done, pay GPs a small amount of money and they will achieve it inbetween seeing patients. New topics will include, teenage pregnancy, anorexia and bulimia, school attendance, tidy front gardens, sensible haircuts, dangerous dogs, clean hospitals, a democratic Iran, global warming, glass recycling, Kashmir, voting, John Reid, the GMC, the royal wedding (not applicable in Scotland) Readers of hoolet are invited to send in further topics with their indicators to the editor. All published entries will receive a special hoolet prize.
